Palestinians say 1400 prisoners for Shalit and the zionists say only 40....

Progress in prisoner exchange deal may mean release of Gilad Shalit

There has been progress in a prisoner exchange deal between Palestinian factions and the zionists that may mean the release of captured zionist settler Gilad Shalit, media sources announced on Thursday.

The announcement was made following talks between Ofir Dekkel, the zionist esponsible for captured settler and Egyptian Intelligence Chief Omar Suleiman.

Reports on Thursday claim that there has been progress, and that the parties involved are examining new ideas to close a deal.

Egypt recently resumed the role of mediator between the zionists and Hamas. Dekkel is elaborating a new framework for a deal under which Shalit would be transferred to Egypt and then to the zionists in return for the release of 1400 Palestinian prisoners.
