Palestinian, zionist and American officials held the first meeting in Jerusalem on Friday of a trilateral mechanism designed to implement the US-backed Road Map peace plan.
Lt. Gen. William Fraser III, the American envoy charged with overseeing the Road Map process faces the challenge of pushing both sides to fulfill their obligations amid rising tension and violence.

This decision drew criticism from Palestinian officials.The PLO's chief negotiator, Saeb Erekat ,thinking that he could fool the Palestinian people and prove to them that he has bad-bone ,told reporters: "It would have been very appropriate for Barak to go," . "Maybe Barak couldn't go because he is busy planning more [settlement construction] and more incursions."
